We recently connected a female cat and her six kittens to a family in Kingwood. An all black female was called into Animal control with nowhere to go. A local family fostered her and her six kittens. Unfortunately, they had a bad case of fleas and although the family took them for immediate medical care, they lost 4 of the kittens. Chucky and Lucky are still with the family as is the "Mommy" cat. They are healthy, beautiful and thriving. See our kitten rescue picture below. The cost of the veterinary care and spaying/neuturing was partially paid by the family and the family donated the rest of the funds to the WHAWF to pay. What a great success story. Of course the family Christmas tree ornaments this year were the kittens!
The little gray striped female is Smokie. Or "Poof" and she was rescued from a landscaper in PA over the Frenchtown Bridge. "Mommy" cat took her in as one of her own. She will stay with the family in Kingwood as will "Mommy" now known as IRIS and her kittens. A Happy Ending!
If you have stories to share of your own "animal rescue" please email the foundation at info@whawf.org and the Foundation will post them!
